Barbour TO-KI-TO Hooded Half Zip

As much we enjoy the start of a new season which means lots of deliveries, madness and excitement, almost a very belated Christmas, it's pretty clear that Winter has no intention of ending anytime soon with the weather being its coldest so far. While its bitter outside, we were more than happy with the new arrival of knitwear offering by the latest installment of the Beacon Heritage Collection by Barbour and Tokihito Yoshida. Having only introduced knitwear into the collection for Autumn/Winter 2011, building on its initial success has been warmly welcomed with a increased offering and keeping to the original ethos of drawing inspiration from the classic Barbour archives. The Hooded Half Zip one of the Beacon Heritage Collection's newcomers and its perfect for the British weather, this 100% cotton reverse knit sweater features a detachable herringbone twill hood with a 'worn in' aesthetic, half zip fastening, ribbed collar, hem and cuffs, tonal panel sleeve detailing and a concealed front pouch chest pocket. A great layering option that will take you into Spring no sweat.

The proudest part of being able to present the limited edition Beacon Heritage Collection by Barbour and designed by Mr Tokihito Yoshida is that in a ever growing popularity around rural inspired outerwear there's not many jackets that hold both a rich heritage and are instantly recognised as a British classic, but to also offer a modern twist in design, fit and fabrication that adds to the the garment being beautifully crafted. The extaordinary wealth of design features that are in this limited edition collection are all compliments to Mr Tokihito Yoshida and both his expertise in clothing design along with his passion for Barbour as a traditional English Brand, in his interview with the gents from Proper Mag he perceives Barbour to have developed  through it's long history to create a brand itself, he continues explain how Barbour in Japan is understood to be traditional and elegant with real status as being very masculine and designed for gentlemen.

A closer look at any of the Barbour To Ki To Beacon Heritage Collection is always interesting mainly down to the sheer amount of design and detailing that goes into each jacket. The Shoreman Jacket has drawn inspiration and is directly influenced by Barbour's vast archive, redesigned to be a modern silhouette and based on a classic duck or wildfowl shooting design. Mr Tokihito Yoshida states when it comes to his design approach "The most important thing is that the design lives up to Barbour's tradition and uses functionality as a tool". So along with the detailed features including a removable high stance adjustable hood, two front fleece lined handwarmer pockets, two large front bellow pockets, covered placket with button and snap closure the Shoreman Jacket is crafted from single layer Ventile.

The Single Layer Ventile used is a high perfromance fabric that offers its wearer full waterproof and windproof capabilities along with being 100% breathable. Ventile® was the first truly effective all weather fabric whose breathability performance remains unsurpassed with its secret associated to the uncoated and unlaminated construction. The fabrics are 100% cotton, utilising the finest, long staple fibres, only found in the top 2% of the world's crop. After gentle spinning and doubling, the yarn is woven into a very dense Oxford weave, using up to 30% more yarn than conventional woven fabrics.

The performance of Ventile® fabrics results from the properties of cotton fibres which expand when they come into contact with water. The combination of fibres, yarns and weave causes expansion in a uniform manner. This allows the interstices within the fabric to close up, preventing the further passage of water.

Providing excellent protection against the wind, rain, snow and cold, the Shoreman Jacket is one of them ost technical and functional outerwear options we have to offer at Weavers Door, along with the Japanese designing, modern fitting and brilliant colour choice the Shoreman Jacket is highly recommended from Barbour's limited edition collection.
